Stereotypes About Men

Instead of relying on an old stereotype that men think about sex every 9 seconds, or that men think about sex more than women, researchers actually did a study recently to see what’s going on. They had people keep a tally of how often they thought about sex, sleep, and food all day, and found that men thought about all three more than women, meaning men didn’t really differ on thinking about sex than women. Being a highly erotic person (basically meaning having more casual sex), was a stronger predictor of thinking about sex, than being a man or woman. Even more interesting was that men thought about sex an average of about twice an hour (some more, some less). It’s going to be tough, but let’s push back a little on the stereotype that all men think about is sex. (Journal of Sex Research)
